Primary role: To raise awareness within the importance
of sustainable waste management by promoting the 'reduce, reuse, recycle' principles, through
community engagement and waste, reuse and recycling education. To devise and deliver waste
education lessons for roadshows, local schools and community events. To liaise with the Council to
help launch targeted waste reduction, recycling contamination and clean streets campaigns, and to
assess the effectiveness of reuse and recycling initiatives. To assist in the promotion of street cleansing
and grounds maintenance services to the local community.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop a detailed understanding of the local services provided and exercise
initiative in dealing with recycling and waste queries and problems arising from internal and
external sources.
* Analysis of data and presentation of accurate information to the local Council.
* Inputting and communicating KPI data.
* Manage the annual Community Benefit Plan and ensure social value and community benefits are
enacted through the provision of contract services.
* Promote and publicise services amongst the local community; community and resident
groups, businesses and interested parties within the borough .
* Review potential service improvements against the contract's reuse and recycling aims.
* Assist the Council in producing news articles and social media posts relating to the services
provided and wider environmental issues.
* Arrange visits to deliver waste education lessons for roadshows, local schools and community
events.
* To undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required.
* Produce documents and reports for internal, client and public review.
* Provide assistance to Council in matters relating to the services and wider waste industry.
* Represent presentations made to the Council relating to our contract services and
performances.

Essential Characteristics:
* Knowledge of the environmental services industry and environmental issues.
* Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
* A strong ability to be adaptable and flexible.
* In depth Microsoft Office knowledge (Office, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Highly motivated and driven.
* Ability to work well within a team.
* Self-discipline/ability to work independently.
* High standard of spoken and written English, as well as sound numerical reasoning.
* Ability to prioritise workloads.
* Interest in innovation, new technologies and practices to improve services.
Experience for the role:
* At least 2 years relevant experience
* Experience working for private sector waste management companies or public sector
* Experience of working with voluntary groups/charitable organisations/education sector.
* Knowledge of local area, schools and communities.
* Experience of planning or delivering environmental education.
