We are looking for a system architect for a 12-month contract, working for a government body in Guildford.

Role purpose

To analyse the transformation objectives and the requirements of the target operating model and translate these into an integrated systems architecture.

Specify and procure new technology to meet the requirements and oversee the implementation.

Responsibilities and duties

*To review the existing business applications in terms of functional use, data quality and retention, underlying architecture, hosting and integrations.
*To establish and use standard documentation to describe architecture and integrations.
*To analyse the impact of the high-level target operating model systems architecture on the existing business applications.
*To liaise with internal stakeholders
*To develop as-is and to-be systems architecture diagrams
*To develop a low-level/detailed design of the required systems architecture to support the target operating model
*To carry out technical reviews of documentation produced by the Service Redesign team
*To specify, procure, deliver and test new integrations that will enable the new systems architecture.
*To take a lead role in the specification of new technology solutions required to deliver the transformation programme.
*To take part in procurement exercises for new technology solutions.
*To contribute to the project planning and implementation of new technology solutions to ensure it is carried out in accordance with the systems architecture design
*To transfer knowledge to business as usual ICT staff such that the overall architecture and new solutions are well-understood.
*To support the delivery of transformation technology projects as needed

Skills and Attributes

* Information Technology qualifications or professional body membership
* Knowledge of system integration concepts and technologies e.g. SOAP, REST, XML, JSON
* Critical thinking, logic skills and ability to solve complex problems
* Knowledge of information security principles and best practice
* Knowledge of information management principles, data retention and GDPR
* Knowledge of a range of local government specific applications (e.g. document management, workflow, CRM, housing, revenues and benefits, planning and regulatory)
* Professional at all times, using a proactive and collaborative approach


Desirable

* Experience working for a local government body
