The client is a 220-year-old trading company focusing in the forest product industry with sales in excess of $2 billion. The company's main products traded include recycled materials (paper & plastics), wood pulp, paper and bioenergy. The recycled material segment of the company has experienced tremendous growth over the past 10 years. We are truly a global business with a presence in nearly every country that imports a significant amount of recycled paper & plastics. The recycling business is managed in 4 main hubs located in the USA, UK, Italy and Europe. Sourcing is a key component of the business and is an integral part of the growth strategy of the recycling division. We are looking to hire experienced buyers to source recycle paper plastics for both domestic and export sales for the US business.

The position will be located in the UK with remote work options possible. Ideal Location would be South West or South East

Job Description

* Main focus of the position will be to purchase recycled paper from existing accounts as well as developing new accounts with the goal of increasing overall business level.
* Work with other purchasers in developing buying strategies and exchanging market information.
* Use relationships to understand market information & trend and communicate such information with trading team.
* Cultivate strong business relationships through proper communication channels via phone calls, emails, plant/office visits, off-site meetings such as industry-related events.
* Possible sales opportunities for candidate with the applicable qualifications.
* Work effectively with sales support group to ensure a high degree of service is delivered to accounts.
* There will be travel associated with this position.

Requirements

* Minimum 3+ years of experience in purchasing recycled paper.
* Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; excel, outlook, word.
* Ability to work independently but also as part of the trading team.
* Strong negotiating and communication skills.
