1.Brief description of your role

The client is a successful, national, renewable energy and waste company with an excellent reputation in the organic waste and renewable energy sectors. The company's strategy is to continue to develop as a market leader in the recycling and processing of organic wastes and generation of renewable energy from such organic wastes.

Pivotal to the success of the company is the growth of its Local Authority customer base which will be achieved by the outputs from a pro-active and effective Public Sector Business Development function. This role sits within the Public Sector Business Development Team and will involve opportunity planning and targeting activities, organising pro-active engagement with Local Authorities and also the preparation and submission of proposals and tender documents. The need for a well-managed, performing business development function within the company is of heightened importance given the impending requirements of the Environment Bill that will oblige all English Local Authorities to collect food waste separately. This will create significant opportunities for the company and it's long term future. The bids and proposals outline a technical approach to providing the service (e.g. organic waste treatment solutions), along with significant supporting information on the associated commercials (prices etc), funding, site provision, planning permissions, technology and operations.

2.How what you do adds value to the company

The company's future growth is dependent on submitting - and winning - as many bids as it can in response to its customers' requests for tenders. By helping the company to increase both the quality and the volume of bids submitted, you enable the company to win more waste, and so to build more plants. This increases our profitability and enhances job security for all.
