*The direct line management of the Municipal Services Contract.
*Ensure that the local Contract Managers and their Teams are adhering to all policies and procedures.
*Ensure that all contracts are operating in an efficient manner, identifying performance trends and investigate proposals for enhancing operational efficiency.
*Aim to keep labour turnover to a minimum and levels of attendance to a maximum.
*Ensure that the management Team are compliant with all Health and Safety standards in line with current legislation.
*Manage/Review budgets on a regular basis with the Contact Manager.
*Assist and mentor Contract Managers to achieve contracts KPI's
*Report on budgets and resources on a monthly basis. Aim to operate the contract within budget and highlight any potential overspends to the Head of Operations Manager, Finance Director and Managing Director.
*Investigate any overspends and implement any measures that can be taken to reduce any overspends.
*Responsible for the welfare of the Contract Managers and supporting with the resolution of any queries/concerns.
*Involvement with Trade Union consultations and negotiations as and when required.
*Endeavour to build and maintain good relations with all team members and members of the Council.
*Maintain a good knowledge of the Contracts and required standards.
*Maintain Standards and continuously monitor processes.
*Ensure that the Contract Manager/s has ensured that all staff are sufficiently trained as and when required.
*Promote new business and represent the company in a positive manner.
*Support the Contract Manager in managing and setting up contracts with sub-contractors where necessary.
*Liaise with other local council contractors to maintain a good working relationship.
*Report any problems arising directly to the Head of Operations Manager.
*Drive in a safe, lawful efficient manner with due regard to traffic legislation and road weather condition.
*To carry out any other such reasonable job-related tasks as the company may require you to undertake from time to time.
*Support in ad hoc projects such as TUPE in and out mobilisations
(Please note that this role will require some nights away from home).
Essential characteristics:
*Good timekeeping.
*Good customer service skills.
*Excellent communication skills including written word.
*Able to work in adverse weather conditions.
*The ability to work independently or as part of a team.
*Hold a valid UK driving licence, in the relevant category.
*Successful completion of an in-house driver assessment process that includes knowledge of the equipment and how it operates.
*The ability to inspect vehicles and recognise defects.
*The maintenance of inspection procedures which includes wheel security.
*The ability to understand waste management (in particular what is not required).
*Demonstrate acceptable recent eye examination if aged over 60.
*Demonstrate acceptable levels of physical fitness.
*Strong organisational skills.
*Strong leadership skills.
*Assertive.
*Previous experience of managing multi-site teams.
*Previous experience of the waste industry.
*Prepared to travel.
