Liaison with the Council Officers and maintaining a good working relationship with all parties.
* Deliver regular tool box talks to all operatives;
* Support the Contract Manager with the organisation and monitoring of the day to day
operations;
* Ensure compliance with Policies and Standard Operating Procedures;
* Ensure Health and Safety Compliance in line with legislation;
* Supervise employees in order to ensure that the service provided meets the contract
compliance standards laid down by the client through regular checks and monitoring
performance.
* Plan and allocate resources necessary to maintain performance in line with schedules and
budgetary requirements.
* Plan holiday and sickness cover, maintain accurate records and carry out return to work
interviews when necessary.
* Where applicable instigate disciplinary action in accordance with company disciplinary
procedure.
* Ensure contingency plans are prepared for any unexpected occurrences seasonal variations
and annual events.
* Report any problems arising directly to the Contract Manager;
* Daily Management of the Operatives;
* Ensure compliance with policies and procedures are adhered to;
* Support Contract Manager with the welfare of the team and support with the resolution of
any queries/concerns;
* Maintain a good knowledge of the Contract and required standards;
* Arrange and undertake training of employees at the contract and develop effective employee
working relationships including being able to motivate the team, create an atmosphere of a
good team spirit and hold a good retention rate of quality employees.
* To ensure effective communication is maintained at all times within the organisational
structure
* Maintain work reports, vehicle logs and resource sheets
* Prepare reports and attend meetings with the clients, work colleagues and management team
* Prepare and formulate weekly resource sheets, staff timesheets and agency timesheets timely
and accurately.
* Collate reports of any incidents, accidents and defects.
* To provide information in response to public enquiries, SAPs complaints and action
In conjunction with other management on the contract and client officers, be involved in
presentations and activities with local community groups as required.
* Drive in a safe, lawful efficient manner with due regard to traffic legislation and road weather
condition; and
* To carry out any other such reasonable job related tasks as the company may require you to
undertake from time to time.
* To undertake risk assessment
* To Undertake staff appraisals and Performance management Interviews
* To understand and comply with Equal Opportunities Policy
* Assist in resolving any employee relation issues such as disciplinary, grievances issues
according to Company policies.
Key Tasks:
* Deployment of staff;
* Completion of daily works;
* Daily inspection of services;
* Daily Visits of all teams managed;
* Daily review of service with Contract Manager;
* Use of tracking system;
* Monitoring and review stock and fuel consumption; and
* Proactive continuous review of areas cleansed, including performance levels in line with Code
of Practice for Litter and Refuse, and frequencies of cleansing occurrences.
Essential characteristics:
* Good-timekeeping;
* Good customer service skills;
* Good communication skills including written word;
* Able to work in adverse weather conditions;
* The ability to work independently or as part of a team;
* Hold a valid clean UK driving licence, in the relevant category;
* Successful completion of an in-house driver assessment process that includes knowledge of
the equipment and how it operates;
* The ability to inspect vehicles and recognise defects;
* The ability to understand waste management (in particular what is not required);
* Demonstrate acceptable recent eye examination;
* Demonstrate acceptable levels of physical fitness;
* Good organisational skills; and
* Good leadership skills.
Desirable characteristics:
* Previous experience of working with or managing a team.
* Previous experience of Street Sweeping and/or Refuse Collection (as appropriate).
