o maximise profitability for the company through effective supervision of products coming in and leaving site.
* To ensure all materials delivered too or dispatched from site meet the required standards set by site permits, working plans and company procedures.
* To report all maintenance and or breakdown issues on site assisting where necessary.
* Maintain and record all necessary statutory documents retaining as required.
* Implement and monitor a rigorous housekeeping /preventative maintenance system on site pre planning as much as possible.
* Work closely with other Waste Transfer Station Managers identifying trends, best practices and improvement opportunities.
* Monitor and control headcount to ensure service levels are maintained and KPIs met, whilst effectively utilising agency staff during peak periods.
* In conjunction with the other Waste Transfer Station Managers, work closely with Sales and other operational managers improving professional relationships and maximising opportunity.
* Take a positive lead in embracing training opportunities, new technologies and work practices.
* Undertake a regular cycle of continuous improvement, to determine if business processes are effective, efficient and aligned to business needs.
* Attract, retain, coach and develop individuals within the area of responsibility to ensure they provide a high level of motivation, discipline, morale and professionalism.
* Carry out Individual Reviews /appraisals for direct reports.
* Provide monthly reporting to the Commercial Director.
* Any other duties as requested by the Commercial Director or SMT member that are within the skills and capabilities of the job holder.
Qualifications:
* Educated to GCSE or NVQ standard with high grades in English and Maths.
* IOSSH
* WAMITAB Level 4
* Full driving licence, ideally with LGV Class 2 entitlement.
* 360 Wheeled Excavator License
* Telehandler License
Experience/Skills /Knowledge:
* At least 2 years' experience within the waste management industry in a supervisory /managerial position.
* Strong leadership and development skills.
* Excellent delegation and organisational skills.
* Professional and effective relationship-building skills.
* A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Knowledge of the waste operations.
* Ability to understand and work within budgets.
* Sound knowledge of current, and any upcoming, legislation that may affect the Company's business i.e. Health & Safety and Material Processing.
* Competent computer and software skills, including weighbridge and tracking systems.
* Confident and credible communicator - both written and verbal.
* Effective planning, organisation and time management skills.
* Demonstrate understanding of customer needs and strive to consistently exceed them.
