Our clients are recruiting for an experienced validation engineer to work within the Test and Validation team within the Electronics field.
The company designs and manufactures a range of market leading fire and safety products

As part of a multi-disciplined R&D team the candidate will co-ordinate the Firmware development of our new range of innovative connected home safety products. The right candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with a passion for developing and delivering the best products in the market.

Reporting to the Head of Test and Validation, they will need to be comfortable in all aspects of the product validation process. They will have experience of undertaking validation activities in-line with test plans, generating test plans and failure reports and liaising with other engineering disciplines in the evaluation of failures.

The Ideal candidate will have a strong electronics background and be comfortable with low level testing as well as functional system testing. They will be methodical and scientific in their approach and be able to demonstrate clear and concise technical writing skills. They will be comfortable with working on several projects simultaneously and co-ordinating activities of other engineers, where necessary.

The candidate should have the following attributes:

- Minimum of BTech level 4/HNC/HND in electronics with certificates to support
- At least 5 years' experience in a test or electronics engineering field
- Ability to read schematics and understand and diagnose failed electronic assemblies.
- Extensive knowledge of engineering and testing procedures.
- Working understanding of electronics, datasheets, and device capabilities
- Working understanding of electronics lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, soldering stations (0201, 0402), DMM, signal generators and frequency analysers
- Strong technical writing skills and a working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- A good communicator with the ability to present result clearly on concisely in validation review meetings
- Ability to project manage.
- Strong Analytical skills - able to identify solutions and methodically implement them

Experience of the following is advantageous:

- Experience of working on long life battery powered products.
- Experience of working on safety critical products in regulated environment
- Experience of working on projects utilising gas sensing technologies
- A working understanding of C or Python
- Common data capture software such as Tera term, real term
- Experience of EMC testing.
- Experience of leading a small team and day to day management of their task
- Experience of external certification processes
- Experience of working within LCM software, ideally ARAS

Principle duties and responsibilities to include:

- Undertaking validation of new products to the agreed specifications
- Contributing to the validation of existing designs in-line with production and certification requirements
- Generating Failure reports and liaising with other engineering disciplines in the evaluation of failures.
- Undertaking testing and characterisation of existing and new components
- Compiling test results and generating test reports
- Diagnostics and fault finding on products, to component level
- Design and manufacture of test fixtures or equipment to support validation, test and development
- Creation and implementation of test process and procedures to support validation activities
- Management and maintenance of test equipment
- Undertaking work in accordance with the agreed project timescales
- Contributing to process and product improvement by providing feedback to development and manufacturing teams
- Helping to ensure the department maintains consistent levels of quality their work and processes
- Contributing to the development of our processes to ensure we strive for Best Ever Quality in-line to our company's strategic goals
