Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join a well renowned hospital based in the Gloucestershire area. Our client is looking for someone to join them on their exciting and ambitious journey to become a digital organisation and make their Technology simpler, faster and better connected. The role of a Senior Desktop Server Engineer will manage the Desktop Infrastructure Design, with extensive knowledge of core infrastructure services including:

- Microsoft Active Directory for core infrastructure and group policy
- Microsoft Windows Server 2008/2012/2016
- Microsoft System Centre 2012 (SCCM 2012)
- Citrix Environment (Virtual Apps and Desktop Advanced, ADC VPX)

As the Senior Desktop Server Engineer your main responsibilities will be:

- Manage the Desktop Infrastructure and to provide specialist IT service knowledge to those staff within these functions. i.e. ensuring the Teams provide prompt resolution to technical queries logged by IT users;
- Manage Users, Service Accounts and Security. For example creation, modifying permissions, deletion and group memberships;
- Create and manage Organisation Units (OU), devolving responsibility of specific OUs where appropriate to other technical teams, or potentially users if appropriate;
- Perform security, hotfix and patch updates on servers adopting appropriate change control procedures;
- Monitor jobs logged onto the Service Desk Management System to review individual Team member workload and to give assurance that all jobs logged are being managed in a timely and professional manner;
- Carry out engagement visits/site surveys to give end-users the ability to notify and report IT problems in their area. Develop action and improvement plans in response to these problems; with regular updates to the end-user;
- Investigate and resolve complex queries; issues and problems received by the functions they are responsible for, only escalating to senior leads when there is no alternative action available;
- Work with other departmental managers to continually improve the service provided by the - Desktop Support, infrastructure Specialist and Infrastructure Teams;
- Have responsibility for regular stock-take of resources used by the functions.
- Deputise for the IT Operations Manager (where required) on Desktop and infrastructure - Specialist matters. Duties may include attending meetings with clinical and senior managers and providing corporate reports;
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships within the IT Team, key stakeholders and all Trust department
- Attend all mandatory training sessions as required by the Trust

Required:

- Relevant Degree or Masters in IT field or equivalent experience.
- ITIL Foundation Certificate.
- Microsoft certified professional or equivalent experience.

To be successful in the Senior Desktop Server Engineer role the following skills are required;

- High level configuration of a complex client infrastructure.
- Microsoft system centre.
- Desktop imaging and deployment via SCCM.
