*Lead on the effective delivery of services across the company that meet excellent quality standards and value for money
*Work closely with Operations Managers to lead & support them in delivery of local services on specific shareholder contracts, deploying Assistant Operations Managers as appropriate
*To ensure that an effective performance management and continuous improvement regime exists within all operations to meet the challenges of service efficiency.
*To be an active member of the Senior Leadership team, actively supporting the achievement of our business aims and strategies that deliver value back to shareholders and make a positive contribution to the communities that they serve.
*Lead by example and be a positive role model for the values to ensure these are understood and embedded within teams, working practices and behaviours
*Provide advice, recommendations, policies and procedures relating to the provision of the service
*Develop, monitor and review operational service delivery strategies and to ensure they have clear links to commissioner strategies and regulatory services
*Make a significant contribution to the development, monitoring and review of the commissioner strategies and to deliver relevant action plan objectives
*Maintain constructive and productive working relationships with commissioners
*Seek new market opportunities and prepare tenders and estimates in response to invitations from existing and potential clients, in accordance with approved strategies and procedures
*Work closely with the Senior Management Team to ensure all activities are coordinated
*To prepare and present reports associated with operations for the Board of Directors, service commissioners, scrutiny meetings, executive and council meetings
*To undertake risk management within the company's policy and make recommendations to ensure ongoing improvements
*Participate in emergency management and business continuity management and assist in the provision of an effective winter maintenance service
*Maintain constructive and productive working relationships with customers, trade unions, partners, other agencies, voluntary groups and community groups.
*Participate in emergency management and business continuity management.
*Ensure compliance with our Operator licence undertakings and Fleet Compliance.
*Assist the Senior Operations Manager to identify new market opportunities and assess their viability.
*Leadership, Staff management and development will be an import element. Identify and deliver staff training and development requirements
*Lead the Operations Division to ensure that the services are compliant with all relevant legislation and procedures and drive continuous improvement in operational systems and processes to be an example of best practice.
*Prepare resource plans and develop budgets for operational service delivery and agree with the Director of Operations
*Regularly monitor and reconcile expenditure and income, taking remedial action to correct potential or actual variances.

Essential requirements - qualifications, skills, abilities, knowledge and experience:


Qualifications
*Full Driving Licence.
*Experience in a similar role.
*Certificate of Professional Competence in Transport Management (Road Haulage).
*Certificate of Technical Competence (COTC) Level 4 - Managing Transfer Operations.
*NEBOSH (preferred) or IOSH Managing Safely.
*Class C licence
