Summary of Role

To oversee the planned preventative maintenance programme, repairs, modifications and other engineering aspects of the Transfer Stations.

To advise on Transfer Station Plant and Equipment and on systems for existing and future requirements and project manage the implementation of this.

To provide technical support to site maintenance staff and provide onsite Transfer Station Cover for CMS purposes

Key Accountabilities / Competencies

Ensuring Site Is Compliant with Current Legislation
*Demonstrate an awareness of waste legislation and communicate, implement and manage the site and resources accordingly
*Understand the Transfer Station Site Permits and working plans and develop safe working procedures for Maintenance Staff at site.

Ensuring Site Is Compliant with Environmental Legislation
*Support site to ensure operations comply with relevant environmental legislation
*Control and prevent polluting leaks and spillages of waste inclusive of vehicles, plant, equipment, fixed tanks, drums and mobile containers at site
*Assist with the implementation of the Integrated Management System (IMS) and Competency Management System (CMS)

Maintain Health, Safety and Security of Site
*Develop Risk Assessments and Method Statements when required
*Demonstrate an understanding of the application of the requirements of health and safety legislation as it applies to site which includes COSHH
*Understand and manage risks and hazards associated with Maintenance and undertake associated risk assessments
*Manage abnormal situations and emergencies
*Manage contractors to ensure that they do not breach the rules
*Implement actions arising from investigations which may arise from incidents in the Maintenance area

Manage Plant, Equipment and Vehicles Sustainably
*To be aware of new and current technologies and make sure plant equipment and vehicles are utilised to maximum efficiency
*Ensure the planned preventative maintenance programmes (PPM) for the contracts are carried out to a high standard
*Monitor, enforce and record data for the PPM Structure
*Advise the Site Manager of required modifications of to the PPM
*Support and advise sites on PPM administration as required
*Contribute to the formulation of plant investment plans
*Identify, propose and justify potential improvements to plant and equipment
*Ensure that plant, equipment and vehicles are suitable and sufficient for activities to be compliant with legislation and licensing requirements
*Procurement of plant, equipment and vehicles that are suitable for operations at site
*Ensure stores are maintained and stores database is up to date, coordinating the requirements and supply of essential stores across the site
*Complete and submit reports and information
*To provide guidance to Maintenance Team on breakdowns and technical support


Manage The Process of Received waste
*Understand waste types and understanding what is acceptable and unacceptable to site relating to legislation
*Complete and submit reports and information when required









Key Accountabilities / Competencies

Manage Personnel
*Understand core personnel procedures ad employment legislation
*Recruit a team of competent staff
*Implement and manage discipline and grievance procedures at site
*Construct a training plan for team
*Review and manage performance of team and carry out an annual appraisal
*To contribute to succession planning at site
*Ensure staff at site are trained on relevant Work Instructions and procedures, including how to manage accidents, incidents and emergencies
*To provide mentoring and coaching and development to team
*To improve and update individual knowledge and skills
*To make sure team are working within legal parameters and Cory policies and procedures

Manage contracts
*Oversee the day-to-day management of the sites which includes contracts, supervisory and administration when required, material management, management of operational areas when required, project management and assist with budgets
*Oversee the resourcing of contractors and plant / equipment spares to obtain best value
*Manage the client relationship when required
*Prepare contingency plans for unexpected occurrences.

Manage Financial and Budgets
*To collate information for constructing a budget and take action where necessary
*Understand balance sheets, profit and loss, assets, liabilities
*Provide the cost benefit analysis for expenditure of resources
*Monitor and assist site maintenance costs including plant within budget
*Support key business objectives
*Input monthly reporting figures for site

Manage All Internal and external Communication and Documentation
*Complete, file and secure all required paperwork correctly
*Communicate effectively with colleagues and customers
*Measure, record and monitor site performance and take corrective action if and when required
*Understand when to notify external and internal departments of EA issues
*Understand when to apply timely communication with EA
*Attend and facilitate meetings

*To carry out any other reasonable duties / responsibilities as required.
